Hi, my name is Will, and I'm the owner of bayr.im. I'm 16 years old, and yes, I did build this whole thing.
The idea behind Bayr came from my family's love for the Isle of Man. My dad Simon has been in web development for over 30 years, and when we started planning our move to the island, we realised there wasn't really a single place online that brought everything together - where to stay, what to do, where to eat, what's on. There are bits and pieces scattered across different sites, but nothing that felt like a proper guide to the island written by people who actually care about it.
So we decided to build one.
Bayr (pronounced "bear") comes from the Manx Gaelic word for "path" or "road". The strapline is "Find your way around Mann", and that's genuinely what we're trying to do here - give you a clear, honest starting point whether you're visiting for the first time, coming back for the TT, or just looking for somewhere decent to eat on a Friday night.
Everything on this site is put together by hand. The listings are real places, the news is from local sources, and the content is written and checked by us. If something's on here, it's because we think it's worth knowing about.
We're a small, family-run operation and we're adding to the site all the time. Whether you've spotted something wrong, something missing, or you're a local business looking to get listed, we'd love to hear from you.
