Over 1,200 challengers tackle the iconic 85-mile Island circuit in one epic day
The 2026 Parish Walk is underway this morning as approximately 1,200 participants lace up their walking boots for one of the Isle of Man's most demanding endurance events. Starting at 8am from the NSC athletics track, walkers are taking on an gruelling 85-mile course that circumnavigates the entire Island — a true test of stamina, determination, and mental fortitude.
The Parish Walk is a mass-participation event that welcomes walkers of all abilities. Participants can choose to tackle the full circuit or complete individual sections, but those aiming for the complete 85-mile route face a 24-hour time limit. The Under-21 race will conclude in Peel, offering younger competitors their own competitive category.
Race Director Ray Cox has highlighted that the most mentally challenging section comes between Dalby and Bride — a stretch where many walkers hit their limit. If you're planning to cheer on participants or navigate the Island today, be aware that several road closures and diversions are in place across the route to ensure walker safety.
The Parish Walk represents the very best of Isle of Man's outdoor heritage and community spirit. Whether you're a resident taking on the challenge or a visitor interested in experiencing the Island's rugged beauty and vibrant culture, this annual event showcases what makes Bayr.im so special — a place where stunning natural landscapes meet determined, passionate people.
