Ronaldsway Airport makes travel accessible with new autism support programme
Travelling can feel daunting for anyone, but for people with autism and other sensory conditions, navigating a busy airport can be particularly overwhelming. That's why Isle of Man Airport (Ronaldsway) has launched an exciting new initiative to help visitors and residents prepare for their journeys in a calm, supported environment.
The airport's new 'Getting Flight Ready' open days offer guided walks through the terminal, giving participants a chance to familiarise themselves with the space before their actual flight. These supported sessions include the chance to visit the cockpit and meet staff, helping to demystify the airport experience and reduce anxiety around flying.
"We understand that airports can feel overwhelming for many people, especially those with disabilities or sensory sensitivities," a Ronaldsway spokesperson explained. The initiative reflects the airport's commitment to making travel inclusive and accessible for all visitors to the Isle of Man.
If you or someone you know would benefit from this support, mark your calendars: the next Getting Flight Ready event is scheduled for July 2026. Spaces are limited, so interested participants can sign up using the feedback form available on the airport's website.
Whether you're planning a TT holiday, a family getaway, or a business trip, knowing you can prepare for your journey in advance takes the stress out of travel. For more information about accessibility services at Ronaldsway, visit the airport's official website.
