Mountain Road remains closed as TT qualifying session gets underway this evening

By 3FM Published 27 May 2026

The Isle of Man TT is in full swing, with most of the famous course now open to traffic following this morning's practice sessions. However, visitors and residents should be aware that the Mountain Road remains closed as organisers continue to manage course operations during race week.

Road Closures and Qualifying Tonight

All roads on the TT course will shut again at 6pm on Wednesday, 27 May for this evening's qualifying session, with practice due to start at 6:30pm. Roads are expected to re-open no later than 9:30pm, giving visitors a window to explore the Island or travel between areas before evening activities begin.

TT organisers have confirmed that bikes were temporarily stopped from entering the course earlier today due to a 'non-racing medical emergency'. This is a reminder of the intense and serious nature of motorcycle racing on the Island's challenging roads.

Travel Tips for TT Visitors

If you're heading to the Isle of Man for the TT, be prepared for busy roads and long delays. Heysham port is currently experiencing heavy traffic and significant tailbacks, so allow extra time for your journey. The Steam Packet is urging all travellers to ensure they provide accurate vehicle measurements when booking their crossing to avoid complications.
