Western TT course section closes for festival preparation work next week

By 3FM Published 10 April 2026

If you're planning to explore the Isle of Man's iconic TT course later this month, it's worth noting that part of the famous route will be temporarily closed for essential preparation work. The Department of Infrastructure has announced daily road closures on a key section of the course to ensure everything is race-ready for this year's TT festival.

TT Course Closures: What You Need to Know

From Monday, April 27 to Friday, May 1, the section between Ballig and Cronk Y Voddy will be shut down daily from 9.30am to 3.30pm. This closure is part of the Department's ongoing preparation to get the road in prime condition for the 2026 TT festival, one of the Island's most celebrated events.

Access and Alternatives for Visitors

The good news for residents and visitors is that access will be maintained for local people, and you'll still be able to reach Glen Helen and its newly opened farm shop from Cronk Y Voddy. This means tourism and leisure activities in the area won't be significantly disrupted during the closure period.

Plan Ahead for Your Visit

If you're travelling to the west of the Island during this week, allow extra time for your journey and consider using alternative routes. The temporary closures are a small price to pay for hosting one of the world's most prestigious motorcycle racing events, and the roadwork ensures spectators and participants experience the course at its very best.
