A major blow for Isle of Man TT fans this year: Davey Todd, the reigning 2024 Senior champion, has been ruled out of competing at TT 2026 as he continues his recovery from serious injuries sustained at the Daytona 200 in the USA this March.

Champion Forced to Miss TT After Daytona Injuries

Todd's medical team has determined that despite significant progress over the past nine weeks, his injuries won't have recovered sufficiently to safely handle the intense physical demands of racing at the Mountain Course. The decision comes just days after he was also withdrawn from the North West 200 in Northern Ireland, another major motorcycle racing event.

In a heartfelt statement, Todd expressed his disappointment: "I'm absolutely gutted to say I'm not going to be on the start line for TT 2026, especially given all the work that's gone in over the last nine weeks." He praised the support he's received throughout his rehabilitation, crediting Formula Medicine in Italy, BMW Motorrad, and Monster Energy for their crucial role in his recovery efforts.

Looking Ahead to 2027

Though absent from the grid this year, Todd remains optimistic about his future in racing. He's now focusing his energy on a complete recovery, with ambitions to return stronger in 2027. In the meantime, the popular racer will be cheering on his 8TEN Racing team from the sidelines—a bittersweet role for a champion eager to defend his title on the legendary Mountain Course.
