Ramsey Cottage Hospital has received substantial investment to maintain its critical role in healthcare provision across the Island, with infrastructure spending totalling more than £1.5 million over the past five years. The facility, which has undergone partial closures for essential maintenance work since last year, continues to serve both residents and visitors to the North of the Island.

Major Investment in Island Healthcare Infrastructure

Infrastructure Minister Tim Crookall confirmed that the Department of Infrastructure (DOI) has committed significant resources to keeping the hospital in working order. In response to questions from Ramsey MHK Dr Alex Allinson, the minister outlined that maintenance costs since 2021 have included more than £317,000 allocated specifically to urgent repair jobs.

How Funding Works

The DOI carries out maintenance work at the hospital, with some costs subsequently covered by Manx Care. This collaborative approach ensures that essential infrastructure improvements are funded efficiently while healthcare services remain accessible to Island communities. The investment reflects the Government's commitment to maintaining quality healthcare facilities across all regions of the Isle of Man.

For visitors planning healthcare-related trips or simply interested in local infrastructure, Ramsey Cottage Hospital remains an important community asset. The ongoing maintenance programme underscores the Island's dedication to providing reliable medical facilities for residents and tourists alike.
