Local sidecar racers receive outpouring of support following TT qualifying crash
The Isle of Man TT community has rallied around local sidecar duo Ryan and Callum Crowe following a serious crash during qualifying on Wednesday night. The brothers, both Manx racers, were involved in an incident at Crosby that resulted in the session being red-flagged. Despite the severity of the accident, their father Nick has expressed heartfelt gratitude to the medical teams who responded immediately to help his sons.
Speaking to Manx Radio, Nick Crowe praised the professionalism and dedication of the medical staff who came to Ryan and Callum's aid. The sidecar duo themselves have also thanked residents and visitors for the overwhelming messages of support and wellbeing they've received since the incident.
Callum underwent shoulder surgery following the crash, with additional scans scheduled as part of his recovery plan. Ryan sustained a broken wrist and burning to his back, and was also undergoing further scans to assess the full extent of his injuries. Both brothers are receiving ongoing care as they begin their road to recovery.
Following a formal review of the incident, race organisers have made the difficult decision to suspend the sidecar class from the remainder of the 2026 TT races. However, the schedule will continue with other classes, including the Supersport, Sportsbike, and Senior races all proceeding as planned. Manx Care's CEO has confirmed that the relationship with off-Island trauma centres has proven invaluable in cases like this.
The Clerk of the Course confirmed a one-hour delay to proceedings, while police have also issued a warning about misinformation being circulated on social media regarding the incident. The racing community remains focused on supporting the Crowe brothers during this challenging time.
