Local firefighter completes full TT course in protective gear to support vital Island services

When you think of the Isle of Man TT course, images of high-speed motorcycles and roaring engines typically come to mind. But one local firefighter has tackled the famous 37.73-mile circuit in a very different way — on foot, in full firefighting gear, complete with oxygen tank. Daniel Maddocks has raised nearly £3,000 for two vital charities through this remarkable endurance challenge.

Walking the Mountain Course for a Cause

Maddocks undertook this ambitious fundraiser to support The Great North Air Ambulance Service and The Firefighters Charity. The challenge was no small feat — completing the full TT course on foot while carrying the weight of professional protective equipment and an oxygen tank is a genuine test of physical and mental endurance.

Raising Awareness Year-Round

Beyond the impressive fundraising total, Maddocks' primary goal was to highlight how critical the air ambulance service is to the Island throughout the year, not just during the famous TT fortnight. His efforts shine a spotlight on the essential work of emergency services that residents and visitors depend on daily.
