Weather disruption affects travel plans for visitors and residents
Travellers heading to and from the Isle of Man should be prepared for significant ferry disruptions this week, as Storm warnings force multiple cancellations on the Douglas-Heysham route. The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for gale force winds, prompting Manx operator Steam Packet to take precautionary measures to ensure passenger safety.
Wednesday evening's 7.15pm crossing from Douglas has been cancelled, with the overnight return service from Lancashire also unable to proceed on Thursday morning. The disruption continues throughout Thursday, with both the 8am and 1.45pm sailings cancelled. However, the evening 7.15pm service has been rescheduled to an earlier 5.30pm departure, giving passengers an alternative option to complete their journey.
If you're planning a trip to the Island or heading off-Island, we recommend checking with your ferry operator for the latest updates. While severe weather can occasionally impact travel schedules, it's all part of the adventure when visiting our beautiful destination. Consider flexible travel plans during stormy periods, and remember that safety is always the priority for our transport providers.
