Multiple schedule changes and weather delays test patience on Isle of Man's iconic race day
The Isle of Man TT has faced yet another scheduling shake-up on race day, with organisers announcing a fourth delay as weather conditions continue to impact proceedings on the famous Mountain Course. Racing enthusiasts and visitors to the island are being asked to show patience as officials work to deliver the spectacle safely.
After multiple postponements, the afternoon's Supersport race is now scheduled to get underway at 3pm, but with a significant change to the format. The race will run over three laps instead of the planned four, allowing organisers to make the most of the remaining daylight hours. The Mountain Road will close at 1pm, with the remainder of the course shutting down at 2pm to prepare for the afternoon's action.
Clerk of the Course Gary Thompson has warned that the TT may need to extend into Sunday if today's weather conditions persist. The decision to cancel all evening racing has already been confirmed, giving teams and riders crucial time to prepare while the weather situation is reassessed.
Those planning to catch the action are advised to plan accordingly. Bus Vannin has urged spectators not to linger at bus stops around the TT course if they're waiting for transport, as services may be affected by road closures and delays. Additionally, visitors should note that flags at the TT Grandstand have been removed due to safety concerns regarding wind conditions.
Douglas Mayor Steven Crellin has launched an online fundraiser to support this year's charity appeal, offering visitors another way to contribute to the island community during race week.
