Storm forces major changes to ferry timetables this weekend
If you're planning to travel between the Isle of Man and the mainland this weekend, it's worth checking your ferry arrangements. The Steam Packet Company has announced significant disruptions to Sunday's sailings due to forecasted gales and severe weather conditions.
The Manxman's popular 2pm Liverpool to Douglas sailing on Sunday, March 1st will be delayed by a full 10 hours, now departing just before midnight. More significantly, the 7:30pm Douglas to Heysham evening service has been cancelled entirely, along with the subsequent 2:15am return sailing on Monday morning. Travellers are urged to contact the Steam Packet Company directly to reschedule their journeys or seek alternative travel dates.
While the Isle of Man's tempestuous weather is part of its charm for adventure seekers, it's a timely reminder to book flexible travel plans and check conditions before heading to the ferry terminal. For those flexible with their schedules, the dramatic coastal scenery during stormy weather offers a uniquely atmospheric introduction to our island – just perhaps not from a ferry deck!
