Charity shifts gears as popular cycling event takes a break this summer

The Dan Kneen Charitable Fund has announced that Le Dans 24, the Island's beloved 24-hour endurance cycling event, will not take place in 2026. However, organisers aren't stepping back from their mission—instead, they're redirecting their focus to expand TORQ, their confidential driver support service for the racing community.

Le Dans 24 Takes a Year Off to Focus on Driver Welfare

The endurance event, scheduled for the first weekend of August at the Jurby Circuit, has been postponed due to a combination of organisational challenges and personal commitments among the team. Despite this temporary halt, the charity emphasises that their core mission remains unchanged. Leanne Harper, Dan's wife and trustee of the fund, confirmed that the team will be fully occupied supporting drivers from the TT Festival through to the Manx Grand Prix.

What is TORQ?

TORQ was established by the Dan Kneen Charitable Fund to provide confidential, non-clinical welfare support to members of the Island's racing community. The service was launched following Dan Kneen's death in 2018, ensuring that drivers and their families have access to crucial mental health and wellbeing resources during one of the Island's busiest racing seasons.

A Five-Year Success Story

Since its launch, Le Dans 24 has raised over £23,000 for the charity during its five-year run. The event became a popular fixture on the Island's sporting calendar, drawing cyclists from across the community. While organisers acknowledge the temporary setback, they remain committed to delivering the event in future years when circumstances allow.

Visitors and residents keen to support the charitable cause can still engage with the Dan Kneen Charitable Fund through their expanded driver support initiatives during the upcoming racing season.
