Island's top dignitary joins TT marshals for Festival week celebrations
The TT Festival is drawing in supporters from all corners of the Island — including some very distinguished guests. His Excellency Sir John Lorimer, the Lieutenant Governor, and Lady Lorimer are preparing to don their marshal bibs and join the famous Orange Army for two days of trackside duties during next week's iconic racing event.
On Tuesday, May 26, Sir John and Lady Lorimer will take up positions at the 32nd Milestone in Dukes, where they'll experience the thrilling action of the Mountain Course firsthand. The following day, Wednesday, May 27, they'll head north to Ballaugh Bridge — one of the circuit's most dramatic and spectator-friendly vantage points — to continue their marshalling duties.
The Lieutenant Governor's involvement highlights how deeply the TT is woven into Manx life and culture. The event draws visitors and participants from around the world, and having Island leadership actively participate in the Orange Army demonstrates the community spirit that makes the Festival so special.
To cap off their TT week, Sir John and Lady Lorimer will attend the Wheelie Good Cause Auction at the Mercury Club, adding their support to this charitable event. It's another reminder that TT week is about more than just racing — it's a celebration that brings the entire community together for festivities, fundraising, and unforgettable experiences on the roads of the Isle of Man.
