Spring has arrived on the Isle of Man, and with it comes the reopening of some of the island's most treasured cultural attractions. Manx National Heritage has welcomed visitors back to its historic sites today, marking the start of another exciting season of discovery and exploration.

Heritage Sites Open Their Doors

Following winter maintenance and restoration work, seven major attractions are now welcoming the public once again. Visitors can explore:

  • Peel Castle — the iconic fortress overlooking Peel Harbour
  • Castle Rushen — a medieval stronghold in Castletown
  • The Great Laxey Wheel — the world's largest working waterwheel
  • The Nautical Museum — celebrating the island's maritime heritage
  • Cregneash — a traditional Manx village
  • Rushen Abbey — historic monastic ruins
  • The Grove Museum — a Victorian period home

New Visitor Hubs Coming This Summer

The reopening is just the beginning of an exciting year for heritage tourism. Manx National Heritage is preparing to launch new visitor hubs in both Castletown and Laxey during early summer. These centres will provide comprehensive information about the charity's ongoing conservation efforts and help visitors make the most of their island experience.

Guided Tours Return to Castletown

History enthusiasts will be pleased to hear that guided tours of Castletown's historic sites are also returning on selected dates throughout the season. Whether you're a first-time visitor or a returning heritage enthusiast, there's never been a better time to explore the Isle of Man's rich cultural landscape.
