Two-week closure begins as the Island prepares for the world-famous TT races
Visitors and residents planning to explore the Mountain Road should take note: one of the Isle of Man's most iconic routes will be closing for two weeks from Tuesday, 7 April 2026. The Department of Infrastructure has announced essential works to prepare the legendary course for the eagerly anticipated TT races.
Starting at 9:30am on Tuesday, 7 April, the closure will remain in place until 3:30pm on Friday, 17 April. The affected sections stretch from Creg-Ny-Baa to the Bungalow and from the Bungalow to Ramsey, making this a significant closure for anyone planning to cross the Island's central highlands during this period.
The good news? Not all access is cut off. The Department has confirmed that the road between Bungalow Bridge and the Victory Café will remain open, allowing visitors to continue accessing the Victory Café and Snaefell via the Tholt Y Will Road. This ensures that those keen to reach the Island's highest point won't be completely blocked.
If you're planning a trip during early April, we recommend checking travel routes in advance and allowing extra time for your journey. The closure is a crucial part of preparing the world-famous Mountain Course for one of motorsport's greatest events—making these two weeks well worth the temporary inconvenience.
