Weather forces TT organisers to shuffle schedule, with Senior Race protected as flagship event
The 2026 Isle of Man TT schedule has been revised to make the most of unpredictable weather conditions forecast over the coming days. With racing unlikely to take place on Thursday, organisers have prioritised the delivery of the prestigious Milwaukee Senior TT as the headline race of the event.
The Mountain Section of the course is due to close by 9am on Thursday, 4 June, with a full course closure by 10am. If weather permits, there will be a one-lap free practice session at 10:30am, followed by the RL360 Superstock TT Race 1 at 11:45am. However, organisers have confirmed the likelihood of this race taking place is "low."
A final decision on Thursday's schedule will be announced by 7am, following consultation with the Met Office. If the Superstock race doesn't go ahead, the prize fund will be distributed equally amongst all qualified competitors.
Gary Thompson, Clerk of the Course, explained the decision: "The revised programme has been developed to give us the strongest possible opportunity to complete the remaining races, while also protecting the delivery of the Senior TT as the headline race of the event." The new schedule balances competitor safety with the operational challenges posed by the Mountain Course.
Thompson added: "We recognise the disappointment that disruption causes for competitors, teams, marshals, residents and fans, and I would like to thank everyone for their patience, understanding and continued support throughout the event." The decision follows detailed analysis of forecast conditions, competitor mileage, and road closure requirements.
