Police crack down on dangerous riding during TT festival with increased patrols

By ManxRadio Published 25 May 2026

As TT 2026 approaches, the Isle of Man's police force is sending a clear message to riders and visitors: there is no excuse for speeding on our roads. Officers have already dealt with a significant number of bikers caught breaking speed limits, and enforcement efforts are intensifying across the Island.

Zero Tolerance on Dangerous Riding

Superintendent Danny Rotchell has warned that both marked and unmarked police vehicles are operating throughout the Island to catch dangerous drivers and riders. One biker has already been caught performing wheelies at speeds exceeding 100mph — a stark reminder of the risks posed by reckless behaviour during the festival period.

While the TT attracts world-class racers to our famous Mountain Course, that speed and skill are reserved for the track. Public roads demand a different approach entirely. The police are urging all visitors and residents to make sensible choices behind the wheel, ensuring their own safety and that of others sharing our roads.

What Visitors Need to Know

  • Marked and unmarked police vehicles are patrolling across the Island
  • Speed limits apply to everyone — visitors and residents alike
  • Dangerous riding, including stunts, will result in enforcement action
  • Make responsible choices to keep yourself and others safe during festival season

The TT is a celebration of motorsport heritage and attracts incredible talent from around the world. By respecting our speed limits and road rules, everyone can enjoy the festival safely while protecting the Island's reputation as a world-class destination.
