Safety measures tightened at iconic TT venue following Monday's incident

The Isle of Man TT has introduced new safety restrictions at one of its most iconic spectator locations. Parliament Square in Ramsey will be closed to spectators for the remainder of the festival following a serious incident during Monday's practice session.

Safety First: Parliament Square Goes Off-Limits

Organisers announced the decision on Tuesday morning, designating Parliament Square as a restricted area for all remaining TT events. The move comes after a practice session was abandoned when a rider and eight spectators were injured in an accident at the popular viewing spot. While two individuals remain hospitalized, the racer and other spectators have since been discharged.

This decision reflects the ongoing commitment to spectator safety at the world-famous motorcycle racing festival. Fans planning their TT experience should note this change when selecting viewing locations along the famous mountain course.

What Else is Happening at TT 2026

  • Second practice session — Roads around the course will close this evening
  • Weather forecast — Today could be record-breaking for TT conditions
  • Mountain Road closure — Expected to remain shut for approximately three hours this morning
  • Enhanced medical capacity — Manx Care has applied to place a mobile building at Ramsey Cottage Hospital

Visitors heading to the Island should also be aware that Merseyside Police have issued warnings to bikers travelling through England en route to the TT, following recent traffic enforcement activities.
