MHK pushes for transparency on Castle Rushen High School redevelopment plans

By 3FM Published 12 March 2026

A significant new school development is set to transform education provision in Castletown, but Onchan MHK Julie Edge is calling for greater transparency around the project. She's demanding that the Department of Education, Sport and Culture publish comprehensive design plans and master planning documents to keep the public informed about this important infrastructure investment.

Castle Rushen High School Redesign Moves Forward

The proposed new Castle Rushen High School represents one of the Isle of Man's most significant education projects in recent years. Following an engineering company's initial concept design reveal, Edge has formally requested written replies from Education Minister Daphne Caine, asking for the publication of:

  • New concept design reports from the engineering team
  • Updated design plans for the school building
  • The master plan developed in 2022

Transparency in major public projects helps residents, parents, and stakeholders understand the vision for the island's educational future. For visitors to the Isle of Man interested in learning about local developments and community initiatives, understanding these infrastructure projects provides insight into how the island continues to invest in its future.

The school's redevelopment is expected to modernise educational facilities in the south of the island, potentially enhancing the overall quality of life for Castletown residents and families across the region.
