Elective procedures paused at Noble's Hospital amid operational pressures
If you're planning a visit to the Isle of Man and have a scheduled medical procedure, it's important to be aware that Noble's Hospital has cancelled all elective procedures from 12 to 18 May 2026 due to significant operational pressures within Manx Care. While this news may be concerning for patients, urgent and cancer care services will continue as normal.
Manx Care, the Island's healthcare provider, is currently experiencing very high demand for care with limited capacity across its services. The temporary suspension affects only planned, non-urgent procedures during this one-week period, allowing staff to focus on those requiring immediate medical attention.
The health body has expressed its understanding of the frustration this causes for affected patients and visitors. A spokesperson stated: "We understand how disappointing and frustrating this will be for those affected and we are truly sorry for the impact this may have." Emergency Department patients and those requiring urgent treatment will continue to receive care as planned.
This operational challenge comes during a period of significant change within Manx Care, with the organisation's chief executive recently announcing their resignation. Visitors and residents are encouraged to check the Manx Care website for updates and to contact their healthcare provider directly if they have scheduled procedures during this time.
