TT practice halted after incident at Brandish; roads begin reopening to public
The Isle of Man TT course is gradually reopening to the public following an evening of disruption on Tuesday, 26 May 2026. After an incident during tonight's practice session brought proceedings to an early halt, race organisers have confirmed that roads are now starting to reopen along sections of the famous circuit.
This evening's practice session ended prematurely when officials issued a red flag following an incident at Brandish. A sidecar driver and passenger are currently receiving treatment for injuries sustained during the crash. This marks the second consecutive practice session to finish early due to an accident, highlighting the challenging conditions and inherent risks of the iconic racing event.
The Department of Infrastructure had extended the road closure order until 10pm, and the roads open car has now left the TT grandstand. Currently, the course is open between St Ninian's and Ramsey, with further sections expected to reopen as clearing operations continue.
If you're planning to travel around the island during race week, be prepared for periodic road closures and delays. Check local traffic updates regularly, and allow extra time for journeys that cross the TT course. Spectator restrictions have also been implemented in Ramsey, so consult the official maps before heading to viewing areas.
