Gale force winds bring travel chaos to the Island—here's what you need to know
If you're planning to visit the Isle of Man today, Thursday 12 March, it's worth checking before you travel. Severe gale force nine winds with gusts reaching up to 65 mph are sweeping across the Island, causing significant disruption to both air and sea routes.
Ronaldsway Airport has cancelled a number of flights due to the dangerous wind conditions, while Steam Packet passengers face notable changes to their sailing schedule. This morning's Manxman crossing and the return sailing have been cancelled entirely, though the 7.15pm departure has been brought forward to 5.30pm to beat the worst of the weather. A yellow weather warning remains in force until 3pm, so conditions should ease as the afternoon progresses.
If you're travelling to or from the Island today, we recommend checking with your transport provider before heading to the airport or ferry terminal. Colder conditions are also on the way, so wrap up warm for your journey. For live travel updates and weather information, keep an eye on official Isle of Man transport websites and local news sources.
