Police remind visitors and riders that safety comes first during TT fortnight
As the Isle of Man TT Races approaches, police are reminding both competitors and the thousands of visitors heading to the island that the famous TT course remains open to the public throughout the racing fortnight. Whether you're a keen motorcyclist wanting to experience the legendary circuit or a tourist exploring the island's roads, it's essential to remember that safety and consideration for other road users must come first.
The Roads Policing Unit has been responding to a number of incidents where other road users haven't been given proper consideration. Officers are urging all riders to ride within their means and to be mindful that the TT course is a working public road network, not a private racetrack, outside of official race days and sessions.
During the TT fortnight, a number of temporary speed limits are enforced around the course to protect both riders and pedestrians. Visitors should familiarise themselves with these restrictions before setting out, as exceeding them can result in penalties and, more importantly, compromise safety.
If you're planning a trip to the Isle of Man during the TT, enjoy this spectacular event responsibly. Show respect for the course, your fellow riders, and all other road users sharing the island's roads.
