TT organisers issue clear safety guidance following incident during racing fortnight
The Isle of Man TT Races organisers have released an updated spectator safety map following a serious incident in Ramsey on 25 May. With the 2026 racing fortnight well underway, it's essential that visitors understand exactly where they can and cannot watch the action to stay safe.
Albert Square in Ramsey is now designated as a strictly prohibited area for spectators for the remainder of the TT fortnight. This decision follows an incident yesterday in which eight spectators were injured. Spectators must not enter or remain within this zone at any time when roads are closed for racing.
To avoid confusion, TT organisers have issued a detailed map clearly defining the restricted area. The prohibited zone is officially defined as the left-hand side of the course, beginning from the left-hand gatepost of No.1 Albert Square, extending diagonally across the road to a prominent tree in the grassed area, then to the multi-directional information sign, and finally to the yellow barrier at the end of the grassed area.
The good news for TT enthusiasts is that all other previously accessible spectator locations in the Parliament Square area remain unchanged. Visitors still have plenty of approved viewing spots to enjoy the racing. A spokesperson emphasised: "Please follow the instructions of marshals and officials at all times and only spectate from approved viewing locations."
Of the eight spectators injured in the incident, most have now been discharged from hospital. Two bystanders are receiving ongoing treatment in the UK. Authorities have confirmed a secure online portal has been established for further information and updates.
