Weather forces postponement of opening TT race; revised schedule to be announced
Motorsport fans heading to the Isle of Man TT 2026 will have to wait a little longer for the action to begin. The highly anticipated first race of the festival, the RL360 Superstock TT Race 1, has been cancelled today (Saturday, 30 May) due to challenging weather conditions affecting the famous mountain course.
The clerk of the course made the decision to cancel racing this morning after assessing low cloud cover and deteriorating weather conditions across the TT Course. Although organisers initially hoped to push back the 11am start time and run the race later in the afternoon, conditions did not improve enough to make racing safe.
This delay marks an unexpected start to what promises to be an exciting year of racing on the island. The TT is one of the world's most demanding and prestigious motorcycle racing events, attracting thousands of spectators and competitors from around the globe.
TT organisers have confirmed that a revised schedule will be issued in due course, so visitors and fans should stay tuned for updates. In the meantime, all roads around the TT Course have been reopened to the public, allowing visitors to explore the island and prepare for when racing does get underway.
Whether you're a dedicated motorsports enthusiast or a curious tourist, the TT remains one of the Isle of Man's most iconic events. Keep checking official TT channels for the rescheduled race times so you don't miss the thrilling action ahead.
