Sunday ferry services at risk as bad weather continues to disrupt Steam Packet crossings

By 3FM Published 10 April 2026

Visitors planning to travel to or from the Isle of Man this weekend should be prepared for significant disruption to ferry services. Steam Packet has already cancelled two Sunday sailings and warned that two more crossings could be affected by adverse weather conditions.

Sunday Sailings Under Threat

The company has confirmed that the Manxman's 8pm sailing to Heysham on Sunday and its 2.15am return journey on Monday have both been cancelled. Additionally, the Manannan's 7.15am crossing to Liverpool and 11.15am return trip on Sunday face potential cancellation or reschedulement, with a final decision expected by 5.15am on Sunday morning.

If you're planning to travel between the Island and the mainland, we recommend checking the Steam Packet website regularly for updates and allowing extra time for your journey.

Weekend Disruptions Continue

Saturday's services have already been significantly impacted, with four sailings rescheduled and two cancelled due to widespread bad weather. The company has adjusted departure times for two additional ferries to help manage the challenging conditions.

The Department of Infrastructure has also confirmed that part of the Mountain Road will reopen for the weekend, which may ease travel for those heading to popular attractions like the TT course and scenic routes.
